I was born into the dog
show world. My mother has owned, shown and bred Pedigree
Show Dogs since 1979. Firstly with German Shepherd Dogs
then changing to Alaskan Malamutes in 1988.
When i was 12 i started to
help show the dogs, winning my first ever class! Over my
junior years i competed in Junior handler classes
qualifying to compete at the state finals at the Royal
Adelaide show beating some of the top handlers at the
time to qualify.
I myself owned a few
Alaskan Malamutes over the years on the quest for my
foundation for my breeding program under the "Quazaa"
Prefix. Having only ever had one "accidental" litter
with Alaskan Malamutes i kept nothing. I decided in 2009
that the breed wasn't heading in the direction i wanted
to go both in breed type and health so i made the hard
decision to change breeds, i chose the Cairn Terrier.
My first Cairn
arrived July 2009 who you can meet under "Boys" (past
dogs) he was a great introduction to the breed winning
many in group, an in show and multiple Reserve
challenges and a Runner up Best of Breed for me all
under 7 months old. After spending the most of the 12
months in cairn terriers researching Lines, Types and
Health that i was after ive chosen my direction
that i wish to head in which includes the gorgeous
dogs of Kennel Rasken's
from Sweden.
March 2010 saw the
arrival of a visitor from good friends Mark & Liz
Jewell of Banmhor
Kennels in Western Australia. He is the gorgeous 'Ch
Rasken's Rocking Chuck Berry IMP SWD aka Rocky' (you can
see more of him on our "Boys"
Page). I couldn't have thanked Mark & Liz
enough for allowing this smoochy boy to come stay with
us for 2010.
As well as showing
we have also ventured into Earth Dogs
to show the true working ability of our dogs. We have
yet to put a dog through its paces but have helped out
each weekend learning how it all works. I hope to have
dual titled dogs in the future.
Now as of mid 2010 we are
waiting on the arrival of our foundation bitch which we
are very excited about. I aim to breed, Happy
Healthy dogs of high quality for both the
family and show situations. I have an exciting
future planned.
The Prefix name "Quazaa" was
origionaly registered for our Alaskan Malamutes and is
American Indian for "Phases of the Moon" We contemplate
changing this in the future to a name better suited for
our Scottish Breed in time.
